Five unique buildings are being constructed amongst mature trees in an outstanding location: three ‘Sternhäuser’ (star houses) and two maisonette buildings are strung together. Utilising the specialities of the site that slopes in two directions and has a mature stock of trees, the concept focuses on the optimal exploitation of the area to be built on while maintaining the park-like green space qualities. The orientation and design of the buildings took all possible views into account – the lake to the east, orchards to the north – and also the position of the sun – evening sun in the west, and the southern sun, and integrated these into the overall appearance of the ensemble.
The architectural concept has one consistent aim: living with views and light. The spatial situations are carefully harmonised with each other, resulting in an orientation for each apartment towards the lake/town and towards the mountains. The balance between building and nature, openness and privacy is assured by the optimal arrangement of the layout. Terraces and balconies along the building have a windmill-like arrangement, which conveys a feeling of generosity and openness in design. Residents’ privacy is protected by the materiality and carefully planned planting, and at the same time a maximum of openness towards the natural spaces is assured.
The aesthetics and timelessness of the design underscore the high-quality character and the standard of luxurious living. The conceptual clarity and the involvement of the context in the design give rise to an ensemble that is economically, ecologically and technically sustainable (Minergie standard) and at the same time form an identity for the location – a good balance between investment and added value.
