Our capital is the interface between architecture and interior design. Our work is oriented on solutions – between building construction and interior installations – across all disciplines. The essential element is the dialogue, which leads to an integrally thought-out, individual layout – user-oriented, technically state-of-the-art and timeless in functionality and design. We benefit from our many years of experience with complex building tasks in prime locations, the gift of thinking in unorthodox approaches, as well as preserving realities that characterise the context. Influences and inspiration from art, culture, lifestyle and fashion support this stance.

Architecture is individual expression of perfection

The office was founded in 1994 by Gerhard Landau and Ludwig Kindelbacher and successfully turned into a private limited company in 2009. Landau + Kindelbacher employs a team of around 60 architects and interior designers, highly committed and multi-skilled, working nationally and internationally on private and commercial projects. Our clients include renowned companies and institutions that attach great importance to contemporary representation and consciously want to position themselves uniquely, as well as cultivated, sophisticated private persons with high demands on quality and detail. We have conducted numerous national and international projects in recent years whose quality has been proved by publications and awards. Our range of services includes the development of concepts and implementations for office, home, hotels and gastronomy, retail/shops, cultural and special areas – especially in the premium segment – as new construction, redevelopment or renovation of protected and listed historical monuments.

Location

Our architectural office is located in a premium inner-city site in the Palais am Lenbachplatz in the centre of Munich. In addition to the open plan office, the prestigious rooms house the meeting areas and presentation spaces as well as an extensive collection of hand-selected materials and unusual designs.

Technical equipment

Our technical equipment is intensively supervised by an IT manager and constantly adapted to the latest developments on the market. Electronic communication with all those involved in construction is possible in all file formats and via FTP server. Model construction studies and animations to clarify the design processes are an integral part of our work and are developed in our office.

With our multidisciplinary team, we have been implementing ambitious building and interior design projects since 1994. We work in an informal, professional atmosphere, which is characterised by our passion for the job, both within the office and in our dealings with our clients. In ideal circumstances, these then lead to further planning tasks that are characterised by our longstanding expertise and the confidence of our customers.

Premium quality is shown on the one hand by pioneering architecture, and on the other by the appreciation of beauty and tradition. At the same time, we design classical and modern buildings and spatial concepts. In this sense, our projects can look back over a wonderful history while being completely up-to-date. Our strength lies in viewing architecture and interior design holistically and in planning across all disciplines. Both subject areas must be complementary in design, technique and quality, even if the planning task applies to one side only. The sustainable use of the finite resources of our planet is of major concern for Landau + Kindelbacher. We have had interesting certification experience in the following projects:

Furthermore, we pay close attention to sustainability in construction methods, and are continuing to learn and improve in the area of new design/construction methods such as the requirements of wood-hybrid building methods.

Gerhard Landau, who was born in 1965, graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich in 1990 with a degree in Architecture. Following a two-year stint at Michael Hopkins + Partners in London he returned to Munich and in 1994, together with Ludwig Kindelbacher, founded Landau + Kindelbacher Architekten - Innenarchitekten. Critical reviews of projects in Munich, Rosenheim and Paris as well as a two-year teaching post at the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim reflect his interest in concrete planning work and at the same time academic discourse. In 2004 he was made a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and became member of the Association of German Interior Designers in 2011. Ludwig Kindelbacher, who was born in 1965, graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim in 1990 with a degree in Interior Design. Having worked for two years at Schmidt-Schicketanz u. Partner in Munich, he and Gerhard Landau then founded Landau + Kindelbacher Architekten - Innenarchitekten. In 1994 he was awarded a degree in Architecture from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. In addition to his appointment as a member of the Association of German Interior Designers in 1999, Ludwig Kindelbacher is a founding member of the Baukultur platform, a member of the Accreditation Federation of Architecture and Planning Degree Courses and serves as an honorary judge at the Professional Court for Architects and Interior Designers. In 2004 he became a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA). Numerous lectures and panel activities in germany and abroad.
