The former music room in the Laurer villa, which has also served as a student fraternity, a synagogue and a university of applied sciences, was to be converted into the practice room and concert hall for the municipal choral and music school. Restoring the room to its former use and revealing the historical building fabric were the focal point of the architectural concept.
In terms of both function and aesthetics the use of modern architectural language in the form of multi-functional panels is a resounding success. In addition to improving the acoustics, the side of the panels is a source of lighting and these also contain a flat heating element that creates a pleasant ambient temperature.
