The new office world of the international commercial law firm Latham & Watkins arises within the office building „Frankfurter Welle“, not far from the Old Opera in Frankfurt on the Main. What seems to have become standard in the US – open plan offices for the young associates – is new for the office environment of German commercial enterprises. The change from office culture to activity based working meets the eye: open spaces replace single offices and glass walls confined spaces.
To enhance self motivated work the chancellery focuses on new, more flexible forms of collaboration. table groups in the open plan offices as well as coworking spaces in the so called „Cubes“ and „Working Cafes“, informal lounge areas within which the employees are able to gather for spontaneous meetings. They can also find retreat areas like focus rooms or phone cubes where lawyers may make phone calls, concentrate and work without being disturbed.

Reception and cafeteria / gastronomy, conference zones
workspaces / communication zones as open space offices, phone boxes, focus rooms, informal meeting rooms for activity-based working as well as coworking spaces in the working cafes
