In Haidhausen, the streets in the so-called Franzosenviertel connect Max-Weber-Platz with Ostbahnhof (Munich East Station). What is currently a collection of commercial usages in the rear courtyard is to be replaced by a new building with 59 flats and an underground garage. The separation distances to neighbouring developments required for urban infill development mean that the structure of the volume reacts with a strong terracing of the building. The resulting terraces and external spaces offer a wide variety of free spaces and perspectives. Influenced by the existing warehouses in the inner courtyard, an industrial style design is planned, achieved by means of a clinker-brick facing, windows with sash-bars, and safety barriers in dark colours.
